Mayor Bloomberg Orders Taxi Cabs to Be Hybrid by 2012
So our friends across the pond are going green!?
The proposed new hybrid vehicles are twice as economical to run - getting 35 miles per gallon to the measley 14 miles per gallon of the current big yellow machines.
However - much as we admire the sentiment - it’s got to be said that here in the UK if we had a vehicle that only managed 35 miles to the gallon we would consider it a gas guzzler! It’s hard to believe how a 35mpg vehicle can be considered as “green” or economical?
