I’ve been trying to book a holiday break over the weekend and have been using www.skyscanner.net to find the best deal on flights. With the proliferation of budget airlines it’s difficult to keep track of who flys where in Europe - this tool takes a lot of the hassle out of tracking down flights. The site has come a long way since I first used it - put simply it’s now the best budget flight planning tool I’ve come across. Bar none!

Sometimes a software interface “just works” - and in my opinion this is one of those. If you know your destination but don’t care where you fly from - then just give it the destination & specify the origin country - it will return flights from all airports to your destination. In price order. Quoted prices also include tax & charges which is nice.

Or - just looking for a cheap flight anywhere from a certain airport close to home. Select your origin airport and find the cheapest flight to somewhere!

Sometimes a two stage flight can be much cheaper than a direct flight - using skyscanner it’s easy to do a quick search to see if an intermediate stop makes sense. I’ve saved about €400 by including a change at Frankfurt instead of flying direct.

It’s only really useful for European flights so far but worldwide coverage is in the pipeline.
